The Big 12 is searching for a high energy, results driven professional to assist in advancing Football and Olympic sports competition and event operations for the conference.
The Director – Football Operations & Competition assists in all aspects of the Big 12 Conference’s football and competition operations. This role will report to the Chief Football & Competition Officer and work closely with the Vice President – Olympic Sports.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate event operations for football championship, including but not limited to staffing, stadium operations, sponsorship fulfillment, television, awards selection, game operations, media relations, and team logistics.
Assist with operational and policy matters related to football.
Maintain and publish the annual conference football policy manual.
Monitor policy violations as well as need for potential policy changes.
Assist with regular season football scheduling.
Support the Conference’s football officiating Alliance.
Manage the Conference’s participation in the National Open Video Exchange Co-Op.
Assist with all instant replay activities.
Coordinate the Conference’s football Replay Operations Center.
Assist Chief Football & Competition Officer in organizing all football meetings and provide support on special projects.
Assist with operations and planning for football media day.
Serve as the sport liaison to select sports under the supervision of the Vice President – Olympic Sports.
Complete additional tasks as assigned.
Desired Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
Minimum 5 to 7 years of practical experience and demonstrated skills in athletics operations and administration.
Experience working within an athletic department or conference office at the collegiate level and a desire to work in college athletics administration is preferred.
The ability to work under stringent deadlines and quickly adapt to change.
Strong project management skills with the ability to lead multiple projects at different stages of development.
Exceptional communication, prioritization and time management skills.
Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with key partners.
Experience working in a fast-paced and hands-on environment while juggling multiple projects at once and maintaining organization of projects, including a willingness and ability to travel and work weekends.
Ability to work long, flexible hours including gamedays, evenings, weekends and holidays as required.
