Director of Sport Performance

Description:

Under general supervision, directs, provides leadership, and oversees all strength and conditioning activities for the University's 18 NCAA Division I sports.

  • Manages overall operation of University's weight room for the University's 18 NCAA Division I sports, including scheduling of weight room, maintenance of equipment, supervision of daily weight room operations/activities, etc.

  • Organizes, prepares, and conducts strength and conditioning workouts with specified teams.

  • Oversee and manage the fueling stations, including ordering, stocking and budget management; work with local sport nutritionists, to help with performance nutrition for our student-athletes. 

  • Supervises graduate assistants in development and delivery of strength and conditioning workouts for specified teams.

  • Directs all strategic aspects of the University's strength and conditioning program for student-athletes.

  • Communicates regularly with coaches, athletic trainers, and administrators to ensure the welfare and safety of all student-athletes while meeting team goals for strength and conditioning.

  • Complies with all NCAA, Conference, University, and Department of Athletics policies.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s preferred. NSCA (CSCS) or CSCCa (SCCC) certification, as well as First Aid/CPR/AED certification required.

Experience: Four to six years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Experience training basketball and Olympic sport athletes preferred.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

  • Ability to lead, instruct, and motivate Division 1 student-athletes to improve overall performance.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of sports performance/strength and conditioning best practices.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to build relationships and work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

  • Ability to manage and mentor personnel.

  • Skilled in organizing and coordinating.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs.

  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.

  • Thrives in an environment of teamwork, collaboration, and hard work.

  • Ability to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends.

  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment and the ability to respond to high-pressure situations.
