Director for Compliance and Governance

Reports To: Senior Associate Commissioner for Compliance and Governance  

Summary 

Reporting to the Senior Associate Commissioner for Compliance and Governance, this role  supports the Conference's governance, compliance, and legislative affairs functions including  NCAA/CSC rules interpretations, legislative tracking, waiver administration, and membership  education. The ideal candidate brings NCAA rules and governance experience, excels in a fast paced environment, and communicates technical information effectively to a broad range of  stakeholders. 

Primary Responsibilities 

Governance and Legislative Affairs 

▪ Assist with the administration of the Atlantic 10 governance structure, including conference  committees, working groups, and sport-specific governance initiatives. 

▪ Monitor NCAA and CSC governance activities, including proposals, legislative concepts,  and policy discussions. 

▪ Track NCAA sport oversight committee agendas and prepare summaries and briefing  materials for conference staff and membership.  

▪ Coordinate the collection and dissemination of member feedback on NCAA legislative  proposals. 

Compliance and Rules Education 

▪ Research and provide interpretations of NCAA, CSC, and Atlantic 10 legislation.  ▪ Develop and deliver compliance education programming.  

▪ Coordinate regular meetings and educational opportunities for institutional compliance  administrators. 

▪ Maintain compliance resources, manuals, forms, and educational materials. ▪ Monitor emerging trends and issues affecting Division I. 

Waivers and Legislative Relief 

▪ Serve as a conference resource regarding NCAA and Conference waiver processes. ▪ Assist institutions with waiver submissions and supporting documentation. ▪ Track waiver requests, outcomes, and legislative relief trends. 

▪ Maintain records related to conference-administered waiver processes.

College Sports Commission and Student-Athlete Affairs 

▪ Support conference responsibilities related to College Sports Commission rules and  regulations. 

Membership Services and Administrative Support 

▪ Assist with coordination of meeting logistics, agendas, and materials. 

▪ Prepare reports, presentations, and communications for conference administrators and  member institutions. 

▪ Assist with special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications 

Required 

▪ Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. 

▪ Minimum of one to three years of experience in NCAA Division I compliance, governance,  athletics administration, or a related field. 

▪ Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA legislation, governance processes, and compliance  operations. 

▪ Strong written and verbal communication skills. 

▪ Excellent organizational, analytical, and project management abilities. 

▪ Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously. 

▪ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and NCAA compliance systems. 

Preferred 

▪ Master's degree, Juris Doctor, or other advanced degree. 

▪ Experience working in a Division I conference office or NCAA national office.

Working Environment  

▪ Office-based environment with occasional travel to conference meetings, championships,  NCAA meetings, and member institutions. 

▪ Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary to support conference operations and  events. 

▪ Some remote work on occasion.
