What to Expect
The Assistant Coach/Director of Operations for Swimming and Diving supports the Director, Swimming & Diving (Head Coach) in all aspects of managing a nationally competitive Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving program. This role includes coaching and recruiting Cadet-athletes, monitoring academic progress, and fostering their development, discipline, and conduct, while also overseeing the planning and execution of team operations and logistics such as travel, scheduling, recruiting visits, event management, and administrative processes. Additionally, the position provides support to the coaching staff and collaborates with Strategic Communications (ACOMM, Social Strategy, and Creative Video) to enhance program visibility, engagement, and storytelling.

What You'll Do
35% Staff & Administrative Support 

  • Assist with all administrative coordination for coaching staff. Including but not limited to off-campus recruiting, credit card reconciliation, awards ordering, and purchase orders. 

  • Liaison with the Compliance Office for all required paperwork and ARMS software and/or TEAMWORKS requirements. 

  • Coordinate all aspects of Swimming and Diving Camp/Clinics logistics and operations with the appropriate staff within the athletics department. 

  • Assist in coordinating match-day needs with corresponding departments (Operations, Facilities, Marketing, etc).

  • Assist in Nike Gameday gear ordering/inventory/management.

  • Regularly review and maintain oversight of the Men’s and Women’s budget on behalf of the Head Coaches. 

  • Attend all Swimming and Diving staff, Athletics Department, and other required meetings. 

  • Engage and communicate regularly with Alumni and Friends of the Swimming and Diving Programs. 

25% Sport Operations 

  • Assist the Head Coaches in maintaining an accurate roster in all required software platforms for the Athletics Department and the Academy. 

  • Liaison to the Athletics Academic Services on the academic success and monitoring of the team. 

  • Responsible for all aspects of team travel coordination including: flight, bus, rental, hotel, meals, per diem distribution, practice times, and itinerary generation. 

  • Responsible for coordinating/executing all official and unofficial visits to include: compliance forms, itineraries, travel, lodging, meals, etc.

  • Oversee Cadet-Managers: work with Head Coach to ensure all managers fulfill responsibilities outlined in their position description. 

15% Coaching and Recruiting 

  • Promotes the philosophy and objectives of AWPAA; to include adhering to and enforcing all applicable policies and procedures, as well as rules and regulations of USMA, the Conference, and the NCAA.

  • Assists the Director, Swimming & Diving the ongoing teaching and instruction of Cadet-athletes in the performance of their sport such as, but not limited to, games, practices, individual and team workouts, and conditioning sessions.

  • Coach and instruct student-athletes individually and in groups and demonstrate game techniques and skills required to be successful.

  • Plan and attend coaching and practice sessions, games, tournaments, etc. in accordance with NCAA and conference regulations for specified positions. 

  • Develop, recommend, and teach game strategy.

  • Monitor and maintain the discipline and conduct of Cadet-athletes to support the image and reputation of the department and Academy. Responsible for the development, safety and conduct of the cadet-athletes within the sport program.

  • Supervises assigned assistant coaches and other support staff to ensure compliance to applicable rules, policies, and procedures; provides orientation, training and guidance as needed; conducts performance evaluations.

15% Strategic Communication and Marketing 

  • Worki in conjunction and serve as the primary contact with the Strategic Communications area (Athletic Communications, Social Strategy, and Creative Video) to develop/execute strategies that grows Swimming and Diving audiences through stories and engagement. 

  • Help with the coordination and implementation of the Swimming and Diving programs social media plan including pregame, in-game, and postgame.

  • Work with marketing and video staffs on providing content for accounts.

  • Assist with the creation of recruiting graphics including but not limited to: nametags, itineraries, signage, PowerPoints, and offer letters. 

  • Assist with the creation and execution of a weekly prospective Cadet-athlete social media campaign. Including but not limited to: “X” direct messaging, “good luck” messaging during high school seasons. 

  • At all times ensure that content is consistent with the USMA and AWPAD goals and mission.

  • Conduct regular SWOT analyses of peer Swimming and Diving programs’ creative strategies.

5% Special Events & Projects 

  • Coordinate Senior Day. 

  • Coordinate postseason team banquet.

  • Coordinate pre R-Day social.

5% Other duties as assigned
