The American Athletic Conference is accepting applications for the position of Associate Commissioner for Media Partnerships. The position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer.

THE ROLE AND CANDIDATE PROFILE

The American Athletic Conference Associate Commissioner for Media Partnerships serves as the primary administrative liaison with the Conference's television and multimedia partners and is responsible for managing the daily execution and maximization of the American's media partnerships and related linear and digital broadcast agreements. The successful candidate will navigate the complex broadcast, cable, and streaming landscape on behalf of the member institutions. The successful candidate will work closely with the American's executive staff regarding all media partnerships and will work with the sport administration team regarding maximizing media exposure by coordinating linear broadcast selections and managing the American's expansive content schedule on ESPN+.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES

  • Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of six (6) years of experience in the business of broadcast media or related field.

  • Strong information technology skills and other standard business software applications.

  • Discretion, critical thinking, problem solving, and excellent judgment are required.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with others.

  • Working hours can include nights and weekends, and position will be required to travel.

SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY AND EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

  • Serve as the primary day-to-day liaison to the American’s media partners related to scheduling, production, programming, sponsorship and more.

  • Identify and execute opportunities to enhance revenue and implement efficiencies across all aspects of each partnership.

  • Work closely with campus leads/production units to ensure the successful maximization of the school produced events for all contractual and extra events produced.

  • Host regular meetings with campus production personnel and ESPN, and advance event meetings with telecast personnel.

  • Cultivate, encourage, and coordinate member production of exclusive and non-exclusive shoulder programming.

  • Collect, monitor, and distribute commercial formats and start times between networks, conferences, and members.

  • Coordinate broadcast operations for all championships; oversee national radio contracts; manage commercial formats for various networks for each telecast, manage PSAs for the membership.

  • Serve as primary business and strategy manager regarding the American’s digital platform; manage process for ESPN+ produced football games; recommend and approve technology/equipment and expenses; manage selection of packager for producing Olympic championships and all associated budget decisions.

  • Prepare presentation materials and updates for various Conference governance groups.

  • Identify new strategic programming opportunities, including emerging non-traditional content categories.

  • Work closely with sport administrators to assist with the development and maximization of schedule commitments while balancing varying needs and priorities; responsible for cross-departmental alignment on broadcast scheduling strategy.

  • Ensure proactive communication with member institutions related to programming and other related content.

  • Maintain, disseminate, and educate constituents on the American’s Multimedia Broadcast Guidelines and other related content guidelines.

  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure quality and compelling content.

  • Assist with matters related to the execution of American sponsorship and sales.

  • Create, interpret, and disseminate viewership reports and other analytics to support decision making.

  • May be requested to perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.
