The AMCC, a vibrant NCAA Division III conference comprised of nine institutions, seeks a dynamic leader to serve as its next Commissioner. The AMCC is committed to academic excellence and competitive athletic programs. We are dedicated to fostering a holistic student-athlete experience where individuals can grow both on and off the field.
The Commissioner serves as the chief administrative officer of the AMCC, providing leadership and strategic direction for the conference. This role demands a deep understanding of NCAA Division III philosophy, a commitment to student-athlete well-being, and exceptional management and communication skills. The Commissioner reports to the Presidents Council.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Strategy:
o Develop and implement strategic plans to advance the mission and goals of the
AMCC.
o Oversee all aspects of conference operations, ensuring compliance with AMCC
and NCAA regulations.
o Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships to enhance the conference's visibility
and resources.
o Foster a culture of sportsmanship, fair play, and inclusive excellence among
member institutions.
Administration and Compliance:
o Manage the day-to-day operations of the conference office and supervise staff.
o Interpret and enforce conference and NCAA rules and regulations.
o Oversee the administration of conference championships and events.
o Manage the conference's financial affairs, including budget development and oversight.
o Serve as the primary liaison between the conference office, member institutions,
and the NCAA.
Collaboration & Communication:
o Work collaboratively with the Presidents Council, Athletic Directors, and other
conference committees.
o Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders, including athletic directors,
athletics diversity and inclusion designees, coaches, faculty athletic
representatives, senior women administrators, and student-athletes.
o Advance and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within conference and with
stakeholders.
o Promote effective communication and transparency across all levels of the
conference.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
Minimum of five years of experience in collegiate athletics administration, with
conference or NCAA experience highly desirable.
Deep understanding of NCAA Division III philosophy and current trends in intercollegiate athletics.
Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Excellent communication, public relations, and consensus-building abilities.
Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
