Student-Athlete Academic Support Coordinator

Summary of Position

The Student-Athlete Academic Support Coordinator provides holistic advising and support for student-athletes in consultation with Academic Advisors, Class Deans, Coaches, and other colleagues within the student-athlete ecosystem. This individual provides advising, consultation, and training for colleagues and coaches in regards to academic advising, academic alerts, academic policies/procedures and athletic eligibility.

 

As Student-Athlete Academic Support Coordinator, you will:

 

●      Direct Academic Support: Provide consultation and support for individual students athletes regarding academic and personal skill development advising and coaching. Facilitate academic programming for deposited and matriculated student athletes including individual team meetings, group advising sessions, and academic skill building workshops and presentations. Provide proactive and responsive support and programming aimed at student-athlete retention.

●      Serve as a liaison: Provide training and consultation to coaches concerning academic advising, alerts, and policies/procedures. Work closely with the Faculty Athletic Representatives to provide coordinated advising and programming. Reinforce information provided by official academic advisors and educate students on NCAA and institutional eligibility and academic requirements. Proactively connect and engage with campus departments, organizations, faculty, and administrators to facilitate positive working relationships.

●      Represent Student Success: Regularly participate in Athletics and Recreation divisional meetings, participate in the Retention Intervention Team and the Student Intervention Team; assist Enrollment by meeting with coaches and prospective students/families to provide academic consultation and information.

●      Be Present: Attend home student athletic competitions.

 

 

Experience and Qualifications

●       Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s Degree preferred.

●       1-3 years of relative experience to the position.

●       Experience in college athletics is highly preferred.

●       Experience in academic support environments is required. Knowledge of data/reports, maintaining databases, email functions, Google suite products, and Slate is highly preferred.

●       The ability to learn new systems quickly and efficiently is required. Familiarity with College processes and functions of campus offices is preferred.

●       Must demonstrate integrity and confidentiality; excellent listening and communication skills; and strong organizational skills.

●       Must possess the ability and willingness to collaborate productively with diverse groups and work productively and tactfully with students and colleagues.

 

 

YOUR COMPENSATION

New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. The expected starting salary range for this position is $42,000 annually.
