Responsibilities
Under the direction of the head coach, assists with teaching, coaching, and mentoring student-athletes, recruiting qualified prospects, logistical planning of practice and competition, developing and implementing strategies.
Comply with University, NCAA, and UAA expectations, standards, and regulations.
Teach relevant skills to student-athletes during training and competition.
Evaluate the performance of the team and individuals to instruct and advise on technical, strategic, and mental development.
Serve on departmental committees. Represent the University of Chicago in professional, alumni, and civic functions.
Direct the work of student workers and volunteer assistant coaches.
Extensive domestic travel required.
Secondary departmental responsibilities will be assigned by the athletic director.
Other duties as assigned by the head coach.
Has a moderate/high level of authority to participate in staff meetings, individual planning meetings, and parent-student staffings.
Helps staff to plan and execute events.
Performs other related work as needed.

Education:
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Education:
Bachelor's degree.
Experience:
Minimum of two years of significant and relevant playing or teaching/coaching experience in softball.
Licenses and Certifications:
CPR/First Aid certification (may be fulfilled upon employment).
Driver's License.
Technical Skills or Knowledge:
Proficient in computer skills.
Microsoft Office Suite, etc.
Preferred Competencies
Demonstrated knowledge of the sport and its rules.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments concurrently.
Familiarity with NCAA rules and Division III philosophy.
Embracing and understanding the importance of diversity and inclusion on teams and at the University.
Working Conditions
Must be able to work evenings and weekends as required.
