Assistant Sports Performance Coach

Under the direction of the Director of Sports Performance, this position assists in the day-to-day management of the athletics sports performance program within Athletics, University, Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations, with emphasis on injury prevention, nutrition, and enhanced sport specific athletic performance.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develops / implements of pre-season, in-season, and off-season strength and conditioning programming for assigned teams under theguidelines / protocols set forth by associated governing bodies (NSCA, CSCCa). Researches and activates best industry practices /strategies / programming towards the achievement of individual and team goals / objectives related to area of assignment.

  • Teaches student-athletes proper methods of exercise geared towards injury prevention and enhancement of strength, speed, conditioning, flexibility. Includes demonstration where appropriate.

  • Actively provides an environment of learning / growth, managing the safety and conduct of student-athletes while in sports performance facilities.

  • Collaborates with assigned sport coaches in the assessment and development / implementation / monitoring of programming toward individual / team goals related to injury mitigation and enhanced sports performance. Includes the acclimation of student-athletes to programming as well as customization of programming to meet individual and positional needs.

  • Collaborates with assigned sport coaches and sports performance team in the development, implementation and tracking of short term and long term testing / assessment protocols and results.

  • Collaborates with sports medicine and performance nutrition staffs on initiatives / education / programming towards enhancement of holistic student-athlete health / wellness.

  • Assists with the development and implementation / enforcement of policies and procedures related to the safe use of facilities and equipment.

  • Manages weight room and related facilities, to include equipment maintenance and inventory.

  • Represents UCFAA, Inc. and UCF to the NCAA, Conference, other universities, Central Florida community, and the general public.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of appropriate experience. 

  • Appropriate graduate coursework or master’s degree may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

  • CSCCa (SCCC) or NSCA (CSCS), as well as CPR / AED certification required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strength and conditioning experience at the Division I level or higher

  • Strong attention to detail and communication (written/verbal) skills also preferred.

Due to the nature/scope of Athletics and Athletics events, position may require work during evenings, weekends, and holidays, as well as the 

ability to stand / walk for extended periods of time and occasional travel.
