Director of Marketing

The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) is accepting applications for the position of Director of Marketing. This is a career, full-time position with a targeted salary range of $76,200.00 - $90,000.00 per year with full health benefits and membership in the UC Retirement Plan. Reporting to the Assistant Athletics Director of Marketing, the Director of Marketing will be responsible for the oversight, development, and implementation of the Department’s marketing and promotional efforts of assigned sports and special events. The Director of Marketing will oversee assigned full-time and part-time staff.  This person will be responsible for assigning tasks to achieve the overall goals of the Marketing Department and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, including enhancing the fan experience and generating revenue. The hiring, training and evaluation of assigned staff will be the responsibility of the incumbent.

 

All applicants should demonstrate the following abilities and requirements: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and training; Advanced degree is preferred; Minimum of 5-8 years of progressively increasing experience and responsibility within college athletics, professional sports or marketing/communications field is preferred; Excellent written and verbal communications skills; Demonstrated skills in conceptualization, development, implementation and review of multi-dimensional corporate and marketing, sales, and promotional programs; Demonstrated skills in the cultivation of potential media and corporate partners; Demonstrated management skills and experience in supervising personnel and delegating responsibilities as appropriate; including ability to supervise staff members, student work force and a diverse group of volunteers; Ability to establish, analyze and improve current cooperative working relationships with donors, ticket holders, University faculty, staff and students and members for the general public and corporate contacts; Demonstrated creative abilities in generating innovative ideas and exploring alternative approaches and solutions to problems; Demonstrated organizational skills; including ability to prioritize and complete assignments in a manner accurately reflecting the relative importance of job responsibilities without constant supervision. Demonstrated budgetary skills; Ability to work under time constraints and with conflicting deadlines, frequent interruptions and distractions; Skill and proven track record of interacting effectively with coaches, student-athletes, parents, administrators, staff, sponsors, vendors and the general public; Experience with photoshop/illustrator or video editing software strongly preferred. Basic HTML/CSS skills strongly preferred; Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Outlook; Working knowledge of and ability to comply with University, conference, and NCAA policies and procedures. Working knowledge of conference and NCAA Championship events, including rules and regulations.
